The Knights advanced to the Section 8 AAAA Championship with a convincing win over Maple Grove tonight. The Knights led from the opening tip to the final buzzer; jumping out to a quick 14-2 lead. Emma Miller’s 16 first half points, including a 3 at the buzzer, helped the Knights hold a 37-25 at halftime. The Crimson scored the first 6 points of the second half to cut the deficit in half. The Knights quickly answered to extend the lead back to 44-31. The Crimson pulled within six two more times in the second half; with 7:48 remaining, they were down 53-47. The Knights then finished the game with a 17-9 run to post a 70-56 win! Miller finished the game with a career-high 26 points. Kendal Cox scored 18, grabbed 5 steals, and dished out 4 assists. Kaylie Cox chipped in 11 points and 3 assists. Lauren Hoselton led the rebounding efforts with 12 and scored 7 points. Piper Carlson pulled down 8 rebounds, scored 5 points, and gave 3 assists. Abby Hoselton had 3 points and 3 rebounds.
The Knights will play the #1 seed, Elk River on Friday. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at Elk River High School.
