The girls basketball team advanced to the section championship game for the 8th year in a row after beating the Rogers Royals Saturday night! The Knights scored the first 6 points of the game, before giving up 5 points to the Royals. The 1 point deficit was as close as the Royals would get the rest of the game. In the ensuing minutes, the Knights turned up their defensive pressure and capitalized in transition to build a lead as big as 13 points and held a 10 point advantage at halftime. The Knights struck first in the second half with a bucket from Sydney Tracy on the opening play. After building the lead to as many as 18, the Royals made one final run to cut the lead to 13 points before the Knights continued to hit big buckets and get key stops on the defensive end to finish the game with a 70-51 win. Whitney Dold provided a big spark off the bench for the Knights with 12 points. Kitri Zezza was relentless on defense, helping to force 29 Royals’ turnovers. She got it done on the offensive end too, scoring 11 points and dishing out 5 assists. Rae Johnson lead all scorers with 19 points and Tracy finished with 18. Lizzy Heil chipped in 8 points, had 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 6 steals. Addie Johnson and Vanessa Alexander did a great job holding the Rogers’ DI recruit to only 9 points.
