Knights News · State Bound!

The STMA Knights traveled to Cold Spring to take on the Brainerd Warriors for the Section 8AAAA Championship on Thursday evening. Brainerd needed to win two games to take the title and the Knights needed only one more victory to claim the championship. The first game was a back and forth battle between the two teams. STMA climbed to a two run lead heading into the final inning, but Brainerd put together a one out rally and scored two to tie the game and then answered back in the eighth to win game 1 10-6 in extra innings.

In the game two, the Knights came out more relaxed and found the groove early at the plate and on the mound. Will Anderson went the distance for the Knights on the mound. Anderson pitched a complete game shutout, allowing two hits, and a HBP. Anderson managed to pick off all three runners to eliminate any Brainerd rally. Paxton Thompson, Cody Kelly, Luc Laylin, and Marcus Krupke combined to hit 7-10 with eight RBI.

The Knights have advanced to the state tournament which will start on Thursday at CHS Field in St. Paul. We will know time and opponent on Saturday.

Thank you to all of the fan support during our playoff run! We hope to see you at the state tournament!
