The STMA Knights traveled to Buffalo for a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon with the Bison. The Knights put up seventeen runs in the two games. In the first game Paxton Thompson was in control on the mound. Thompson pitched a complete game, didn’t allow an earned run, allowed only one hit, and struck out three Bison hitters. At the plate, Luc Laylin and Will Anderson had two hits each. Anderson, Jacob Thole, and Cody Kelly each had two RBI. The Knights won the first game 9-1.
In the second game it was more of the same for the Knights. STMA took game two 8-1. Kolby Gartner started on the bump and pitched four innings. Gartner allowed one run off three hits and struck out four Buffalo batters. Dylan Hoffman pitched a scoreless fifth and struck out two more hitters. Alex Wilde and Jacob Thole combined to go 4-5 with two RBI. Paxton Thompson hit his thirteenth double on the season. Thompson is now tied with 2015 grad Jordan Joseph for the single season record. With the sweep over the Bison, the Knights improve to 10-1 overall on the season and 7-0 in the Mississippi 8 Conference. STMA will be back in action on Thursday as they travel to take Section 8AAAA opponent Brainerd.
