The girls basketball team swept the Spuds tonight in a tough Section 8 4A matchup. The varsity game was tight from the opening tip to the final buzzer with the biggest lead by either team being 6 points. With the Knights up 60-54 late in the game, the Spuds used their fullcourt pressure to rattle the Knights’ offense and put together a 5-1 run to close the gap to two points. Down the stretch the Knights made good on 3 of 4 free throw attempts to keep the lead. Moorhead’s D1 recruit, Sam Haiby, had a chance to tie it at the buzzer, but the shot rimmed out to give the Knights a 64-61 victory. Jadyn Hanson had a solid stat line with 8 steals, 6 assists, and 15 points. Vanessa Alexander had a huge contribution off the bench scoring 14 points and pulling down 3 rebounds. Kendal Cox led the rebounding efforts with 6 and had 3 assists. Kenzie Kramer poured in 19 points and had 4 rebounds. The Knights move to 5-2 on the season.
